Looking For a Local Contractor Fast?

May 6, 2008

You're not the only one who has been thinking about adding on a sunroom.  And the project doesn't have to be as hard as you might think.  There are many competent professionals who do that kind of thing everyday and do it faster and better than you could imagine.  Besides, the pleasure of relaxing alone, with your family, or having indoor/outdoor get togethers is really too much to ignore.  It is important to note that when you look over the sunroom designs with your chosen builder, you do have to keep some key elements in mind.

One of the first things you look at on any sunroom design is how it will fit in with the rest of your home.  For example, if you have a Victorian home, you don't want a sunroom with modern angles and features.  It just wouldn't look right.  The exterior of the sunroom addition doesn't have to match the existing exterior material on your home.  However, it would be a good idea for the materials to go well together.  Let's take a brick home for example.  Finishing the outside of a sunroom in siding or possibly wood would likely look great.  For a wood sided home, the sunroom would do well in rock.

Another consideration to keep in mind when reviewing sunroom designs is placement.  Naturally, you are going to want the sunroom built where it will get the most natural light throughout the day.  Otherwise, you may end up with a shadow room.  Clearly, that won't do.  It's also important for your sunroom to be convenient.  Make sure the windows and doors will be located in logical spots.  They should be pleasing to the eye and allow for proper ventilation.  Your contractor can certainly answer any questions you might have about those details.

Even if the first few sunroom designs you look at don't work for you, don't worry.  There are all kinds of plans and designs out there and one of them is sure to make the cut in terms of adding to the value and beauty of your home.  All you need is a little patience.
