If you have one of these creatures living inside your attic, they have probably chewed on something to get in or found a space big enough to crawl inside. Your attic seems to make a good home for them. There are a few different ways to eliminate squirrels in the attic.
First, you need to figure out where they are entering. Finding the entry point allows you to fix or cover up their small door. If the squirrel is coming in and out visiting any time he pleases but eventually leaves for a little while, and you know where his entry hole is the best control is to bolt some heavy gauge wire over the entry way.

Another way to eliminate squirrels in the attic is to use the trap and remove method. This is a very good method to use if the animal has been trapped in the attic with no way to get out. You will need to buy a squirrel size cage trap and some bait. Make sure you bait the cage properly and set it near some of the places you think the squirrels frequent. The next step is to wait. If you don't do it just right or something seems suspicious then all of this will be for nothing. It is important to properly place the trap in an area the squirrels to favor. Also, using bait that will most definitely attract them is crucial.
A different trap you can try is one with a spring-loaded door. These traps are usually called one-way door traps. If there are no other ways for the squirrel to get back in and the trap is set correctly you should have some success with this one.
There are several ways available for purchase that are advertised to eliminate squirrels in the attic. Some do work, even more don't. Don't waste your time, effort, and money on the following methods: Mothballs, ultrasonic sound emitters, strobe lights, and sprays. They have all been proven unsuccessful.
