Your contractor may be able to pour the entire pond in one piece on a single day but if you want your pond to have a more unique shape or is exceptionally large the pour may take place in sections over several days.
After the concrete is in place, you should coat it with a sealant or epoxy in a dark color so the pond will look more natural. This coating will also help keep the concrete from significantly affecting the pH of the pond water. Even with a good sealant, though, you may have to adjust the pH regularly for several months. When done professionally and correctly, concrete pond construction is well worth the cost to create an attractive, long lasting landscape feature.
