Steps to Perfect Manufactured Flagstone Walkways Every Time

Choosing to build manufactured flagstone walkways is a great selection because it has a history of being extremely durable and requires little to no maintenance. Manufactured flagstone walkways also look great just about anywhere with any décor.

There are two different ways you can lay your flagstone walkway. You can make a straight one or a curved one. For a curved jagged look try using water hoses to mark where you want to dig. This will also give you a great visual of how your finished walkway will look.

Stake out the walkway and do a rough layout with your flagstones. Make adjustments where necessary to allow a slight slope for water run-off.

Next, you should dig the foundation. Save the sod if you like but make sure your slope is right. Flatten out the surface then pour your sand in and level it out.

Now it is time to place your flagstone on top of the sand. To build perfect manufactured walkways, this part may take a little time. Because flagstone is uneven you may have to remove sand in places to make them more flat and even to walk on.

If you have to cut the stone to fit, mark it with a pencil and chisel it with a small sledgehammer. Make sure you strike it in the center of the line that you marked for accuracy. Shaping after cutting may also be necessary. Use some of the other flagstones for a pattern it you need to.

Once all your pieces are perfectly into place you need to pour sand a little at a time over them and into the grooves. Sweep the sand in and then mist some water from a hose over it until it is packed into place. Do this step until the cracks are completely filled.

For the last step of building manufactured flagstone walkways, place your extra sod and pack it around the outside edges.
