How to Build a Wood Fence
Here are some general directions on how to build a wood fence. You should start by spacing your posts about 6 to 8" apart depending on what style of fence you are building. The first posts that should go in the ground are the end posts and the corners. Of course you will want to measure and make sure they are even.
Next you must set the posts. Dig each hole and make sure each post will be buried far enough to hold up nicely. Place gravel in the bottom of the hole to allow water to drain underneath. It helps tremendously to put a wood preservative on the bottom where the posts will be buried and let it set.
The next day your posts will be ready to be placed with the dirt and concrete. Make sure your posts are exactly where you want them before the concrete is poured or you will have a big problem. Once all of your posts have completely set for a couple of days you can then begin to add your fence.
