Do I Want to Texture A Concrete Wall?
If you decide to have a concrete wall put onto your house, you will most likely not want just a plain, gray slab. After all, the plain gray concrete wall looks a lot like the floor of an unfinished basement or a garage. Expecting to see oil or water stains on a plain concrete wall is not exactly the feeling you want to give your visitors. So your best bet to make a concrete wall look good is to add a texture. And how do you texture a concrete wall? Well, adding a texture is impossible; you need to have the texture added during the manufacturing process.
Concrete walls are not like regular walls. First of all, if the wall does not have a texture, it is not going to be attractive at all. With regular walls, either interior walls or exterior walls, you do not necessarily need to add a texture to it to make it a lovely wall. But with concrete, you need a texture in order to make sure that your wall doesn't look industrial.
Texture a Concrete Wall
Since most concrete walls are going to be installed on the exterior of your home, textures should reflect the usage of the wall. For example, you wouldn't want to texture a concrete wall the way you would texture an interior wall, like with a wave texture or circular texture. This can really only be done with plaster anyway, so it really isn't a realistic option. To texture a concrete wall on the exterior of your home and have it look nice, you will want to choose a texture that befits the exterior of the house.
Brick and stone textures look great on exterior walls. So choosing to texture a concrete wall with a stone or brick pattern will really work well on the exterior of a house. But there are more options than just choosing to texture a concrete wall with square brick or stone patterns. You can also texture a concrete wall with panels of stones. This makes the wall look almost like a fence made of stones. You can also choose the size of the stones in the wall texture. Anything from smaller gravel like pieces of stone to larger flagstones will work to texture a concrete wall.
