Easy Sunroom Roof Repair
Sunroom roof repair is generally pretty easy if you have even moderate home repair skills. The panes of glass are relatively small and easy to handle. Sealing the glass properly in the frame area is also a relatively simple task. The first step in repairing your sunroom roof, though, is to determine exactly the kind of repair that is required. You should do this by inspecting the damaged area from both the inside and the outside. Be careful when leaning a ladder against the sunroom on the outside so that you do not damage or break the glass panes.
Sunroom Roof Repair
The most common sunroom roof repair you are likely to need is to re-seal the frames where the glass panels are held in place. Over time the hot sun can dry out these seals, causing cracks and eventually leading to leaks. If you find roof seals that are visibly dry, carefully scrape out the old seal material, remove the glass pane and clean up the entire frame area. Reapply the proper outdoor sealant material, replace the glass pane, and finish with another application of sealant around the edges.
If a piece of glass is cracked or broken, the process is quite similar. Start by taping the window right across the center in several directions. This will hold the pieces together when you remove the glass pane. Remove the sealant around the frame, remove the glass, and clean off the frame. Reapply sealant to the frame, insert the new piece of glass, and apply another round of sealant to the outside of the frame. Sunroom roof repair really is easy when you follow careful safety rules and approach it from a step by step perspective.
